Adventure Plot:
There is a fine line between civilization and chaos. And it is on these
borderlands where brave and bold adventurers seek fortune and fame. Some of
these exceptional adventurers venture into the realm of Chaos itself, into the
evil forces' own den.
You have traveled for many days, traveling from the relative safety of
the city to the wilderness, where danger lies in every turn of the path. You
have moved up along a rocky track, heading to one of the nameless Keep that
watches the border from the evils of Chaos.
From the Keep you set up your temporary home. You set out to explore the
untamed wilds that surrounds the Keep. Following the trail deeper into the
woods, you discover a set of caves. Mass tribes of different evil humanoids
have set their homes in these caves. But you know riches and fame awaits to
those who dare journey into the Caves of Chaos.
Review:
(3rd Printing)
Probably the most well known module in D&D system. This module is a
classic. Gary Gygax gives both the Dungeon Master and the players a taste of
what playing D&D is meant to be. Although majority of the module is
dungeon crawling through the Caves of Chaos, there is also a section on the
full inhabitants and rooms of the Keep, giving the players a chance to
interact with NPCs; with rumor charts and descriptions of the NPS to give both
the DM and players a chance to role-play. A map and encounters of the
surrounding area, allows the adventurers a realistic feeling of what it is like
to journey from one place to the mission, instead of a starting the adventure
in the first room of the dungeon.
Caves of Chaos is a fully stocked dungeon. It has many different creatures
to fight. Tribal interaction and relations. It will require multiple trips to
finish the Caves of Chaos. Allowing an average size party to advanced to
Expert level when they are done.
