Dungeons & Dragons Product Inventory

Dungeons & Dragons has gone through many revisions. We will concentrate on three (3) distinct categories for the Dungeons & Dragons series. The first categoy is the Basic (B), Expert (X), Companion (CM), Masters (M) and Immortal (IM) series. In this series, there were acutally three different releases of the rules and module. This makes up the bulk of the D&D product line. Then came the Challenger series, an attempted to revitalize the Dungeons & Dragons market. And finally, the Mystara series, which was an adaptation to the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rules set.

I know there are the "small booklet" series which started the whole thing, but I am going to concentrate on where I am most familiar with Dungeons & Dragons.

The following is a checklist of all the products that was introduced for the three categories of the Dungeons and Dragons life.

Category 1: Dungeons & Dragons

Circa 1977-1979
These are the early years of D&D. The rules have an Advanced Dungeons & Dragons flavor to them. Monochrome cover module with font and print format not as sophisticated as later revisions, giving it a very "mom-and-pop" feeling, showing exactly how young D&D was.

Circa 1981
The new revised rules gives D&D their own distinct flavor of the game, different than those of AD&D. Early modules still shows the old fashion uniform-width fonts, but now revised to reflect the new rules. Artwork are more sophisticated. Circa 1983 and Later

Category 2: Challenger Series

Category 3: Mystara Series
